A first order awakening can often be a massive transformative event that happens over the course of a night. My first one was like this- although I didn’t know at the time, my descent was about 2-3 years marked by tragedies and life plans falling apart. It can often times feel like a depression you can’t get out of no matter what remedies you try. I didn’t know that I was undergoing a process, but usually the point of this type of descent before you have the spiritual acknowledgement and vocabulary for it is to pivot you to seek alternative methods that were once far from what you’d normally seek.

The awakening itself can, and often does take place over the course of a night. It can be a very powerful kundalini awakening, ego death or dark night that transforms you from what feels like death, to light.

Most first orders that I’m aware of are like this- the process itself is jarring enough to wake you into complete consciousness and shift your entire life overnight. Only in retrospect can you see that it took place over a much longer period.

Then, there are others. There’s also a second order and a third order, and often times smaller ego deaths, descents, kundalini awakenings and dark nights that happen in smaller beats throughout your life.
